Lorton Nike Site W-64 : Nike Site W-64 located at Lorton Virginia was built in 1954 and operated as part of the Army Air Defense Command (ARADCOM) until it was inactivated in 1974. At the time of its inactivation the site and its buildings were turned over to the Lorton Prison facility who used it until the prison closed several years ago. The County of Fairfax now controls the area.

Lorton Penitentiary : Lorton Penitentiary was closed several years ago. It has been left to languish until the politians decide its final fate. In the meantime it just rusts away.

Nike-Hercules Photos : These photos were taken in and around Los Angeles CA 1n 1966. (September 9, 2009) I put these photos up on Smugmug a few years ago. Since then I am amazed at the number of comments I have received. They were taken during the time I commanded LA-78 and I am gradified that they have enabled so many of you to renew your memories of the time you served there.
